[Applicants] Read this !
Hello!
Thanks to everyone who has joined our forum and applied to join the clan! We really appreciate it!
We have set up a community mapping session, and well...as a better way to get to know each other, the idea is to make some group maps. Two main goals :
- As a mapping clan, building is the essence, much more enjoyable when done with other humans
- Get to know each other : a clan is of course...a social thing! If we don't have fun together, what's the purpose of joining a clan?
Here's a simple and hopefully nice proposition ! We have several ongoing projects involving at least one XT member :
- Two canyon maps : looking for at least one player for each map (with a max of three). Given the idea of making a minute lenght track, 15 seconds per mapper seems a good timing, so 3 is a max, considering there's one XT member on the project
- Two stadium maps : looking for at least one player (with a max of three as well). The same rule applies !
- And a huge PF map : anyone who wants to join...the more the merrier !
If you're interested, please send me a PM on this forum and I will give you out the process with all the links.
If you have questions, feel free to ask
Let's start the mapping
See you

(AH, HERE is the post... )
I'm totally thrilled to start mapping with ya'! For me it'll be all Canyon, because I just can't warm up to Stadium for some reason. But I love Canyon all the more, so...yeah...count me in!
Guess I'll send you a PM then about the canyon maps... hope I'm not too late, but at the going rate I have a good feeling...
Thanks for taking care of all this and pushing this thing alive again! I'll happily join the effort!

I'm in!
I will contribute in the map you want, but PF.
I think canyon is best envi for me, since I've builded just two stadium maps... But I've been playing stadium for years... So I can try it too...
Su just tell me in wich map start to working and I will try to build something. I've downloaded the pack you linked me...
I've got lots of unfinished tracks. I have to check them... Most are totally craps that I din't finish because get bored of my own track... XD But maybe there's something interesting. I've been without touching the editor for a time... So I can't remember...
Also I can try to do some screenshot for tracks when finished (this includes PF track)... I know most of my tracks have lazy screenshots... But somethimes I get nice ones XD

I'd like to continue the "jakeoilmap". ...I don't have the patience to deal with a PF map, but yours is right down my alley for sure!
Here's my first take on it!
It's about 15 sec more...

Uh, that's nice, too!
I haven't kept it strictly fullspeed, but figured it felt like wanting to stay inside the "pool", so to say. I generally prefer a sense of consistency in feeling, but that may not always be a good thing... I dunno... I like both versions and it's amazing how different they make the map.
NEAT!

Yeah really exiting
I'm really up to continue your route Taro,
doesn't matter for me, it don't take so much time like a whole map
I like both too

Re: [Applicants] Read this !
I'm having a look right now to see, if I can keep it fullspeed. It's tricky and a bit more clunky, but it might just work... gimme a moment, please!

Here's we go! Jakeoilmap.t02
This one's fullspeed. Oddly a bit slower, but still... might flow well. Naturally you can rip it to shreds, if you like, hehe, I'm not married to any piece, especially after the "finish", which is just, well...the end of my stretch.

Re: [Applicants] Read this !
Nice mapping guys!
@ Taronium : Nice idea of getting a shady path , I prefered your first version, the underplatform jump is somehow too "strong" on the second...but it's a matter of taste !
@ Poivrot : nice idea as well, the fullspeed drifter is surprising!
Incredible how the style may change in a few seconds
I think we can keep both maps, there's no problem with that, what do you think?
If you're ok with that, here's my proposal :
-Poivrot makes the continuity of Taronium's map
-Demens or me continu Poivrot's section
@ Demens : if you prefer you can start with the map called "Jakewader". The idea is mainly to have fun, so feel free to change anything you want to !
Waiting for your answers!

I tend to agree. I enjoy a certain compactness. I just wished I'd find some way to keep the brakes redundant, hehe. If you can think of something for that brake turn? (I'm sure you know what I mean, right?) Anyway...I'm with ya' on it!

I sent a pm to Jake with one more proposal for a map-start (canyon), so we have more variety. Whoever is interested in that one can also message me and I'll give you the link.

Yehah, poivrot, I like what you've done a lot! Really nice flow!
...do you mind, if I embellish a tiny bit around it, not changing the track, just adding some roof and stuff?! ...don't know, if that would be breaking the etiquette here?
Like this! (Jakeoilmap.tp04.Map.Gbx)

Re: [Applicants] Read this !
My part in jakewader is done... Now the map is about 58 secs. I started by erasing last drop. It was not as soft as the previous movements... So I decided changue a bit from there... Since this starts like a fullspeed map I decided to continue in fullspeed style (wich is not my style, but since I don't have enough inteligence to have a style this is not a problem XD). Aded a turbo and jump up with a soft landing, then a 180º full-turn-or-die for entering a big loop. This corner is noslide, but if you don't hit correct timing on cornering you will drift to the loop by loosing a few miliseconds... If you arrive the loop in good speed you will do without loosing traction... And then I reused jakeoil section (I'm a lazy guy XD) but in the other direction to reach the finish. This section requires a nice line to keep balancing, otherwise you will arrive the finish upsidedown. (Not as tricky as seem at first run)
This track can be continued from there if you want. I know there's now almost the minute and there's not much room for other builder ... But maybe we can fit a few seconds more in a crazy finish XD (it's not writen one minute is the limit XD)
Didn't payed atention to scenery at all. I don't use to build scenery until the route is done... If this deserves to be released at the end I will work on it. (I'm sure we have something nice here about to sprout )
So main idea is here. Feel free to comment and edit all what you want! Hoping for feedback!
PD: I aded a custom signal (over the finish)... Just for test if it apears visible for others or just for me... Can you see an ugly skull there?
