hey everyone it's been quite a while (like 2 years or something ^^). Well in the meantime I started studying computional linguistics and figured out that sucked for me (but I needed another year to realize that), changed my subject of study, and now Softwareengineering it is . So semester break just started and I'm looking forward to have a lot of freetime, and not yet planned what ima do during that time. I happen to have purchased Shootmania like 3 months ago, and also playing it at times it is quite fun though I suck at it, and wonder if anyone of XT is playing? I havent put my hands on TM 2 yet (probably because of the SHOCK that they provided only one environment, if i got that right) Are you guys playing TM 2? should I give it a try? How have you guys been? has anything remarkable happened to the community of tm/xt?

Active XTs and exXts in TM1 are: Chaldan, s8ndm8n, Cephid and JakeOil from time to time and me.
TM2 has not been my cup of tea - the editor is boring as hell - it´s very easy to build a drivable map but impossible to build something special - after 2 maps I was done with it. Driving physics are kind of kinky. So I went back to TM1.
If you want to drive online - visit GrandPa servers located at Norway - they got lots of island maps and there you got the biggest chance of catching one of the few left XTs ;-)

Should I give TM 2 a try? No, you shouldn't atm because Canyon sucks imo. But in your shoes I would sign up for TM 2 Valley and Stadium beta keys. I did it because I won't buy another TrackMania as long as I haven't driven at least a beta or demo.
Are we guys playing it? I'm not sure, maybe Master Disaster and kruemelyeti.
Has anything remarkable happened? Well some XT's are gone some new people came. We're even more inactive than before, it's remarkable that this was possible.
How have you guys been? Quite good. I moved to Karlsruhe for my physic studies, which I'm doing now in the 3rd semester. Atm it's semester break but there are some exams, so I don't have much free time.
I also don't play much TrackmaniaUnited the last days..

Well, there's nothing wrong trying TM2 but actually I think only md and krümel are left to play it (from XT that is).
I tried Shootmania in the beta but I didn't like it. I'm probably too old for this shit. lol

I'm thinking about re-installing TMU at least once a week but haven't done so yet.
Meanwhile I'm playing some Battlefield 3 with GSP and Markus.

Also if you like some serious racing then you gotta try RaceRoom Racing Experience.
Available for free on steam.
It's still the beta but it's just pure awesomeness!
Not quite for keyboarders though.

I'll probably give Valley another shot but it better be awesome!

canyon is quite fun for me actually... it's a lot simplier than tmu envis but it's quite fun anyway.
i'm looking forward valley and stadium because the game feels like braindead.

btw i just noticed there's the open beta for sm, if anyone's interested

alright seems like xt pretty much broke appart ^^ thanks for the update. Actually something strange happend after I posted here last time. I've been playing shootmania very obsessively, dunno where that came from but I assume it has to do with the fact that I had to write a report for university until today and yeah.. why not do something you never do when it instead would be smart to get shit done. strange habit of myself. Anyways for those of you who want to give shootmania a try: you need to get used to the unusual gamemodes to rly apreciate the game i guess. building maps is awesome as always, but distributing your map is pretty impossible, which means your maps probably will never be played since most servers host the same few maps and if you find a server where you can somehow get your map to be played its likely to be empty all the time. A ShootmaniaExchange server would be great but I'm not aware that one exists. oh and ShootmaniaExchange is a waste of time since testing maps is pretty boring without any opponents to play against.
I guess ima wait for TM2 to grow in environments before I'll purchase. Is there a demo available for TM2? oh and ceph, where can I sign up for beta keys for the new envis? is that still possible?

As for me, TM2 didn't keep me hooked for long, but I'm not really sure whether it's only because of the game/envi itself. The main reason was probably because I've been playing trackmania for some years and kind of got tired with it. But I agree with most others, canyon isn't exactly the best envi they've created. And since it was the only envi (probably nadeo's biggest mistake), I ended up playing TMU again from time to time (atm I hardly ever play, though). I think you should just sign up for the valley-beta and if it turns out it's a fun envi you could consider buying both of the envis...

Nice to see you again Dave =)).
I was hoping to see you again , since you helped me a lot with my Tracks and Screenshots and i could never say Thanks for that:). You're probably the Reason why i became a good Tracker:P

Anyways , since I had no Internet the past weeks , the only game i'd play offline was Trackmania United.
I think I'll play it more often now, since i started building on a new track.

I also played Shootmania when it was in Alpha. I had Alpha Keys back then. Dunno about it now , I got so many other stuff to do beside it.

To Tm2:
Like Kev said, creating a driveable Track no longer is hard. But making a special one is , which is different.
But maybe you'd give it a Try. From the Driving Physics it's a mix of Stadium&Island.
